Rovinj and Istria Getaway

The second part of the tour will take us to the old town of Pula, a busy commercial city on the sea with a friendly small-town appeal. This is where ancient Romans, Venetians, Austrians, Italians, and of course Croatians left their mark.

Motovun is a captivating little walled town perched on a hill that offers lost-in-time views over the verdant valley. Take a walk on marble narrow streets lined with an atmospheric cluster of Romanesque and Gothic buildings, artist studios, restaurants, and shops. Until the mid-1960s, tiny Groznjan was slipping towards oblivion. Then, a small group of artists ‘discovered’ the crumbling medieval appeal of Groznjan and began setting up studios in the abandoned buildings. Today, this is the town of artists and music.

We will join the official tour of the main island Veli Brijun, accompanied by the local guide, which includes a panoramic ride on the electric train across the islands. Enjoy the nature, beautiful landscape, and even a brief visit to Brijuni ZOO. Before returning to the mainland, we visit a museum dedicated to the former president of Yugoslavia, Marshal Tito, who built himself a summer resort here. So many stories.

The train takes you to the Great Mountain cavern where a guide escorts you on foot through tunnels, halls, galleries, and caverns, decorated with a vast array of stalactites shaped like needles, enormous icicles, and even fragile spaghetti. Cross the Russian Bridge, walk through the Winter Hall, the Concert Hall and end your cave exploration with a stop at the human fish aquarium.

Join a local farmer and his specially trained dogs and go on a truffle hunt, a historical countryside tradition. Go behind the scene of this unique experience! Afterward, enjoy Istrian delicacies tasting complimented with Istrian wine.
